Sipping a delicious glass of wine, gathering around the kitchen table with your people, and snacking on flavorful food: can you think of anything better?
I grew up in a family of 5 women and an old-school Italian father. The appy-hour menu at our house could easily consist of five cheese wheels, a loaf or two of bread, and one-too-many cured meats. This is all before dinner, people! So, luckily for us (and for our hearts), we've changed our ways a bit.
Don't worry, we haven't slowed our app game, we've just adjusted the menu. Now when I start snacking, I make sure to include a few lean proteins with my cheese. Like: shrimp, nuts, & edamame. I always add a few veggie options, to fill me up with fiber. With a more nutritious balance, I end up feeling more satisfied, and occasionally less guilt for skipping the main course and diving right into dark chocolate ;)
